Survey Exposes Laxity in Monitoring of Sonography Centres While the exposure of an illegal sex determination test centre in the city following a sting operation is still fresh in mind, city–based P M Shah Foundation has come up with a survey report that may throw light on a few more such centres in the city.

The findings of the survey are alarming as more than 60 per cent of the surveyed centres have been found to be violating one or the other clause of the PCPNDT Act.

The Foundation had initiated the survey last month before the centre run by Dr Makrand Ranade and Dr Neena Matharani was exposed.

"On June 1, the Foundation wrote a letter to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC)'s chief medical officer R R Pardeshi seeking permission to carry out the survey of sonography clinics registered with the PMC," said Foundation trustee and director Chetan Gandhi. , the permission letter was not obtained.
