According to Dr Subhash Bagade, a gynaecologist who attended the camp, the common complaints were back ache, bodyache, joint pain, indigestion, acidity and gynaecological complaints related to bleeding.
While four required major surgery, four were diabetic and 27 had backache and joint related ailments. Nine had acidity related complaints while 15 women had gyanecological complaints which required regular follow up.
S V Khataukar, Superintendent, Yerawada central jail, said that the prisoners who require additional treatment will be given attention and follow–up maintained. At times, lack of police bandobast entails that women have to be taken in batches to Sassoon General Hospital for treatment.
